Do I Need a Referral to See a Pain Management Doctor?

One of the most common questions we hear from new patients is whether they need a referral before scheduling. The short answer: usually, no.

Scheduling Directly

Patients are welcome to schedule an evaluation directly with our office, without a referral from another physician.

When a Referral Is Common

Many patients do come to us through a referral, whether from a primary care physician, an orthopedic surgeon, a neurosurgeon, urgent care, or a physical therapy clinic. This is common, but it isn't required to be seen.

Workers' Compensation

If you're being seen for a work-related injury, your employer or workers' compensation carrier may have a specific process to follow before your visit. Our team can help you understand what's needed for your specific situation.

Getting Started

If you're unsure whether you need a referral for your specific insurance plan or situation, our team is happy to help you figure that out before your first visit.
