Medicare, Workers' Comp, and Cash-Pay: How Coverage Works at SpineLux

One of the more practical questions patients have before their first visit is simply: will my coverage work here. Here's a straightforward overview of how it works across the different ways patients see us.

Commercial Insurance and Medicare

We accept Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, and Medicare, and we participate in and accept Medicare assignment. Interventional pain management procedures, like epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation, and joint injections, are typically covered when they're medically necessary, though coverage details and any required prior authorization can vary by plan.

Workers' Compensation

We accept workers' compensation claims for work-related injuries. If you're coming to us through a workers' comp claim, it's helpful to bring your claim number and any documentation provided by your employer or insurance carrier. For employers, adjusters, and case managers with questions about a specific claim or patient, please contact our office directly.

Cash-Pay and Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine treatments, including PRP therapy, stem cell therapy, bone marrow-derived therapy, exosome therapy, and prolotherapy, are cash-based services. Coverage for these varies by insurance plan, and many regenerative medicine treatments aren't covered by commercial insurance or Medicare at all. Before moving forward with any regenerative treatment, we'll walk through cost, expected benefit, risks, and alternatives so you're making an informed decision rather than a surprised one.

What This Means for You as a New Patient

In short: if your visit involves standard interventional pain management for a covered condition, your commercial insurance, Medicare, or workers' comp claim will typically apply. If you're exploring regenerative medicine specifically, expect that conversation to include a direct discussion of cost up front. Either way, the goal is transparency before treatment starts, not after.

Have a Specific Coverage Question?

Insurance and billing questions are understandably specific to your individual plan and situation. Our office can review your specific coverage and out-of-pocket expectations before your visit, so call us directly with plan-specific questions rather than relying on general guidance alone.
